KIYOUNG (한기용: Han Ki-Yong) is an absolver. Aside from being an empath, he has a rare extension of empathetic ability that enables him to access the memories of others and even outright remove them, by taking the memories into himself. It most frequently gets used to take on memories that people want to forget, especially when it comes to things they've done. Yes, this is kind of a mixed bag. He's aware. Born to a human mother, Kiyoung is nephil -- half human, half angel. His father was a seraph who made a deal with a hellhound to help hide his affair with a mortal woman, a deal that ultimately killed him. He lived with his mother and took care of her for her remaining mortal lifespan, and on her death he left to make a new life for himself, moving between multiple lives and aliases. Kiyoung currently runs a small corner store, selling mostly convenience items along with books and tchotchkes. Fortunately or unfortunately, he's still very intertwined with the supernatural underworld, where his abilities are in high demand. Thankfully he's always known what he's doing ( kind of ), at least, well enough to get by. For all of his involvement with unsavory characters, he'd rather work with some shady demons than an angel, and he just does whatever he can to have as little to do with angels as possible. They don't think very highly of nephilim, anyway. Sharp, sarcastic, and blunt, he's mouthy enough that it tends to get in the way of him trying to keep a low profile. Kiyoung seems detached and certainly tries to act that way, but kind of really, really isn't. He's just under a hundred, making him incredibly young on the immortal scale of things. He's still figuring things out. |
